    ASA new classes or not?

Did I hear through the rumor mill that there are two new classes or was this only being considered. I heard an new "outlaw" class for the super fast bows and a Senior Hunter class for those old guys that still want to shoot their hunting bows but can't compete with those young jocks shooting 70# pound bows.

I don't see anything in the new rule book, so I think this is only a proposal at this time.

Senior hunter is at the federation level as of now. I heard about an outlaw class, but do not know if it will come into play. It isn't added to the federation classes as of yet.

You really have a way with words here lately , your gonna be old someday too. 50 isnt old & most guys that old can & do pull 70 pounds & will probably out shoot the young guys.

LOL Brett - you know I was talking about you when I wrote this!! Bawhahaha.
But I didn't know what the age bracket would be and really thought it would be for those over 60! At 43, I hardly consider 50 a senior and already reconsidering my definition of an old guy!

There are no new classes at the Pro/Am level and none being considered at this time.

I had several requests for a Sr. Hunter class this past year here at the state level. It seemed to me to be a valid request. Hunter is our largest class and we have a lot of 50 and over Hunter shooters. I got permission from ASA to give a non official Sr. Hunter class a try for 2013. Here is my announcement of this class that appeared on the Texas ASA Federation homepage last Saturday night. This is strictly a Texas ASA Federation class only. If sucessful here in Texas it could possibly be considered for a future Pro/Am class.

The following class has been added by the Texas ASA Federation with permission from ASA for 2013.
Senior Hunter Class -This is a Texas ASA Federation class only. We have had many requests for the addition of this class. We will award a State Championship and Shooter of the Year buckle for this class. There must be at least 3 competitors in a class in order to have a SOY competition for that class. (Per ASA Federation rules). Please be aware that this is NOT an official ASA class. Participants in this class will have to shoot Hunter or other class at an ASA Pro/Am. Participants must shoot in two ASA Pro/Ams in Hunter or other class in order to qualify for The ASA Classic. The ASA National office is going watch this class closely. If this class is a success at the state level it could become a Pro/Am class in the future.

              * Senior Class age requirements are based on the age of the competitor as of December 31st of the current year

The Michigan ASA Federation has had a non official "Outlaw" class at the state level for several years. It has not attracted many shooters.

Question Stace.....Have you looked at the 2013 hompage yet ????

If no....go here. http://texasasafederation.com/ and read, read, read...
