Every year on the property I hunt the falling pecans cause the pigs to come into the land owners’ (3) yards. Every year it affords me the opportunity to stalk in close on pigs and take them out with a bow. I stinking love it!!
I smelled these pigs before I saw them and this bruiser was pushing around some hot sows. I eased up and had to wait for some smaller pigs to rejoin the group so that they wouldn’t wind me. I took the quartering away shot at 10-12 yards (estimate) and he ran probably 80-90 before piling up. Blood everywhere! Broadhead was lodged in the off side shoulder blade.
If you’ve never stalked within 10 yards of a group of feral pigs at night with nothing more than a recurve and a few arrows you don’t know what you’re missing. It’s a blast!
I know everyone says this but the pic doesn’t do him justice. He was massive and very broad across the shoulders.
