This event sounds fantastic. I’m looking forward to it! What’s the best way to prepare for the courses, and are there any practice ranges available before the competition starts? Also, for lodging, do we need to bring our own bedding for the bunks and cabins?

Tony, there is always a bag target practice range set up. Practice in prep would be 3D targets everywhere from 15 to 25 yards (and one at maybe 40 yards), up hill, down hill, flat, behind trees, and who knows what! Mostly standard 3D shots but they do get creative.

I've stayed in 2 different cabins and always brought my own bunk bed bedding or light weight sleeping bag, pillow, and shower towel,

It's my favorite shoot of the year!

Yes bring your own toiletries, pillow, bedding, towels. Let me know to reserve you a bunk or cabin, depending on who is coming with you.
There are practice bags set up from 10 to 30 yds to shoot and warm up prior to getting on the courses. To prepare for these courses are to be comfortable with 3D animals from 10 to 30 yds. Usually there is a large target, elk, buffalo, etc out or just beyond 30yds. The smaller animals are closer. Get as comfortable as you can estimating yardage if you gap shoot. Targets set from 15 to 20 yds are the most common. You can shoot the Chester Classic as often as you like with many different bows/classes. The targets are often placed between trees, behind obstacles where you need to estimate yardage and make some narrow shots. There are many novelty shots, and games to play at this shoot. It is lots of fun. Glad you are coming.
