Most useful SBR Length Chambered in 223/556

Gentleman, what would you say is the most useful suppressed sbr ar15 chambered 223/556. I currently run Daniel defense ddm4v7 16” and wouldn’t mind adding an upper that is shorter. The 16” gun suppressed is a bit long. What do y’all think?

A second question is the gun has gotten a bit heavy after upgrades. The gun has a razor 1-8 lpvo, magpul ubr, and a can. What changes could I make to lighten this gun up?

If I wanted to do everything with one rifle, it’d probably be a 14.5” with a 1-10 Razor on top.

I currently use a 10.5 and a 12.5.

12.5 is my favorite length. With heavier bullets you don’t give up too much in terms of velocity compared to a 16, you give up pretty much nothing compared to an 14.5, and it’s noticeably handier than both. Hits with heavy OTMs out to 600 are easy

I’d pay more attention to port size than gas system. A lot of people are going to mid lengths for 12.5s these days, but I still like a conservatively gassed carbine barrels for that length. Right now I’m using a Hodge that has the small (.0625 if I remember correctly) gas port and it’s great.

I’d assume carbine length is the way to go with a 12.5.

If I were only able to run one length, it would be 12.5. I run shorter ones with Eotechs/Trijicons/Aimpoints, but run a 1-8 on the 12.5" and find it's a great combination. If you plan to keep the 1-8 on your 16" upper, then maybe consider going shorter and running a red dot without magnification.

Yes. I currently use a Griffin Recce 5K on mine. Great combo.
