Are you thinning or taking all the cedar? I like thinning some openings and putting strips through it. I like cedar for hunting covers and shorter cedar for screening.

My moto is %$&* a cedar. lol. They serve zero purpose in a hardwood forest. These are massive not screening sized. Some skeletons may remain on the ground for cover. But eventually I will kill every one of them in this area

I’ll get some pics of the top edges. They love to gnaw on it too.
The coating is bad on your bottom section of the boss buck. If you send them a pic they will send you a replacement.

I had to do it on one probably 5 years ago. I have some that are pretty old and the hopper section looks brand new. Just one that one it got real dry and started cracking up like that.

                Thanks. I’ll check into that.
This feeder is only 3 years old. I was wondering why the spout got chalky and dry looking. It’s definitely different than the hopper.

I’m done in Lot A with:
                  Cedar
and if chemical works, gums and ash

stump strayed all mature down to finger sized privet. Will spray all the smaller stuff with 4% gly mixture

moving into Lot B now. It’s a slightly smaller block….. but I bet there ain’t 10-15 trees that I’ll keep alive in there

I HOPE to light A B and maybe C on fore of
i can get sunlight in the woods

Are y’all seeing ash borers yet? I’m hard pressed to find a live ash tree up here these days. Wish they could find a way to stop them!

Not sure about ash but I still have a lot of cedar dying rapidly. At the rate it’s going I won’t have to cut any live trees. Not complaining tho. I k is there is a lot of places in west tx that could use some natural cedar killers.

No ash bores that I’ve seen. I don’t mind ash in the mid and under story. The ones I’m killing are giant as well. They serve no purpose other that an avenue for a squirrel to get from point a to point b

they are pretty expensive for what they are….. but trees are a ton of work. And every force in the world is against you. Deer, hogs, rabbits, ants, wind, heat, voles, gophers, herbicides, weed eaters. They don’t solve all the problems…. But they help with a bunch of them
