So I realized today I go to this site every time I have an archery question. However I never bother to post my own thoughts. So here I go...
Last year I decided to a single pin site for simplicity. After doing lots of surfing and reading reviews I was thoroughly confused. Lots of pros and cons.
I decided to bite the bullet and spend more money than I ever had on a site $199 retail. I got it from RBO for a lot less. I ended up getting the G5 Optix XR2 Hybrid site.
Why???
1. It had the simplicity of a single pin site no clutter of 5 pins for all the ranges I like to play at
2. It had the stability and for a lack of better term security i feel with fixed pins. i.e. I new that once i set it unless something happened to the bow it was set. I would not have to worry about remembering to check the dial before shooting that big buck. Let's face it I get buck fever bad!!!! My biggest concern was trying to go through my mental check list before touching the release and forgetting I had shot the day before at 40 yards and failed to reset. Again for deer hunting i like to keep my shots under 25 yards.
3. ease of setting up the adjustable pin for as far out as I want.
I have now been shooting with this site for over a year and swear by it. I have found that when i set the adjustable pin it stays does not move, there are no screws or bolts to tighten to hold it in place it just works.
other pros
Fiber optics are good I can see the pins well past shooting light
weight is not bad
pin is .019 my personal favorite size
Solid build
site level
Triple axis adjustable
Cons
if it is... no lighted pins only time this has been an issue is hunting in pop ups at dawn and dusk. I resolved by mounting a green led hat light in the pop up.
Just my 2 cents on a great sight.
