    What target are you using?

Currently shooting .246 arrows but considering changing to .204 with half outs when I use this batch up (lose/break)

I see bag targets are not recommended for half outs
Plus I am shooting my bag target to pieces as is and it is only about 3mos old

Anything out there that will not break the bank?
    Anyone make their own?
If so what did you use and where did you get it?

I do have an 18x18 Blob but it is a pain to get arrows out of

Ideally I would like something 3x3 to 4x4 to shoot at long range

Which 204 and which Half-outs? What does your outsert weigh and what does your point weight? I know these seem like odd questions, but I have a trick I’ve used in the past. Generall you’re talking a foam target. There’s really only 2 I’d consider for general use at this point the 365 archery one, and the matrix. Neither is cheap.

365 probably makes the best target out there, with replaceable cores, they are definitely not cheap but are great targets. I use block 365 and have run the similar one from BassPro, it works ok but can get shot our quick. I really don't like bags, i run .204 Altras and the outcerts tend to hang on the bags.

I would second this info especially the 365. When I switched to half outs I tore up targets quick. The block 6x6 the blackout didn’t last at all. I’ve had decent luck with the morrell high roller. All that being said the 365 has held up amazingly. I went with the smaller 18” as they aren’t cheap and wasn’t sure if it was worth the hype, it is. I’ll be buying more for sure.

Yeah what’s nice about the 365, is your “background” target for misses at long range and oops, is bigger than the high volume/durable core. They also now have 3d deer that plug into them as well. Seem like a solid product.

I shoot mine into bags . I shoot deep impact with the firenock or iron will outcerts . Have not lost one yet. Every once and awhile one will be a pain to remove. I just got a new target . Don’t remember the name but I know it’s a Morrell . Possibly a yellow jacket .

              Don't have a clue
I am running out of arrows and about to the point I need more so was considering switching to a slightly smaller dia (shooting GT Hunters now which are .246)

I read that halfouts and oversized field points shorten the life of a bag target

At this point it is probably smarter to buy the better target that will outlast the bags and not let my arrows get the fletching ripped off when they pass through the bag.
Not sure what the old target was but it lasted a few years of shooting
This new morrell is shout out already and I try to move around on the face and rotate it front and back. I think all it has inside is poly stuffing, old one had poly and some kind of woven material in it

We used to make targets out of cardboard, layered and compressed with allthread and angle (2x4 would work)

Anyone shot something like that with modern arrows?

The reason I asked, what I did for a few years, was glue in points for practice that were the same weight as my outsert and point. Same POI, no target issues, just used outserts for broadheads. I’ve been shooting a Bulldog for a few years, and either getting replacement covers from them or 3rd hand archery. I recover it maybe 2-3x a year. Probably averages 1k arrows a month in it.
