Ladder stands are my favorite way to hunt. I've spent many of day with my boys in a home built ladder stand. I hate hunting out of a 2 man ladder stand that isn't big enough for 1 man let alone 2, so I've always built my own.
I use the chain link fence top rail. The ends have a crimped down for a slip joint, that makes it easy to come apart and go back together. The stands are 42x60 and 16 ft tall.
The ladder comes apart and the top section folds down. It can be all packaged together and it fits nicely on top of my 4wheeler.
It attaches to the tree with a chain and eye bolts. Back side of stand has spikes welded to it that dig into the tree. Its solid ones you get the eye bolts cranked down tight.
I"ve found a simple bench seat works best. Plenty of room 4 1 adult and 2 kids.
18 yards to the feeder. Going to be taking my daughter on her first bow hunt.
