So this is not very ground breaking or anything like that but I figured I'd share with the group. Its still a work in progress, need to work some mounting options for tree / blind.
materials used:
3' Aluminum Square tubing from lowes - $12
3/8" inside diameter Nylon Flange Bushing/Bearing - $.33 each @ 14
3/8" Bolts with nylon lock nuts - couple bucks worth
1/4" knob - $3
The nylon flange bushings are not sold at lowes or home depot, found them at Ace Hardware.
All total I would say I have close to $22 in the project, maybe less.
The black mount in the pics is from an peerless monitor mount I had given to me a while back, it worked out pretty good for this purpose.
I cut the 3' tubing down to 4 equal 9" sections, then drilled them out for the flange bushings, I had to drill out a 1/2" hole and wallow it a bit for them to sit down in the tube. This made for a snug fit for the 3/8" bolt so that I have no slag in the connections, also quite as I do not have metal on metal and not to mention they spin easily on the nylon bushings.
Then I cut down a 1/4" thread to fit into the 1/4" knob to secure my pan/tilt head to the arm. Went with the knob so it would be easy to remove if needed on my tripod.
last pic is the nylon flange bushing I used, also in black
