Thank you for recommendation, and you're right we will probably go larger on the AC unit later on. The current 5k BTU unit I plan to use is in the "free" category and will get us going for right now.

Don't remember when/how we got it but we had one from HEB and were fortunate enough to connect with one of their techs to help out. Finally put in a small window AC and that worked nicely.

Just a quick update from last weekend. Not a whole lot of progress, but some.
Was able to get the window unit installed and running. Also got the box painted on the outside.

I still need a more suitable roof, other than the heavy-duty tarp I have on it now.
And I need to complete the insulation installation (say that fast 3 times...). 😉

The unit is running off the controller setup, but we did not have enough time to see how far down it would go.
Prior to hooking up the controller assembly, it did maintain 63*F inside (95*F ambient temp outside).

The controller reads in Celsius, but in this pic is showing about 44*F air coming out of the unit. This was right after I hooked it up and verified that my nightlight was turned on by the controller.
I'll have to run it some more and see how it does.

Oh, and I found another video about the controller and its use on a DIY cooler.

In this video, these are the specs...
          - Actual size of the cooler is not specified, but "it will fit in the back of a truck" so it's not any bigger than an 8x10
          - AC Unit is 10k BTUs
          - insulation is 2" foam

So, they have a cooler that is about twice the size of mine, with a unit twice the size as mine, with insulation that is 1/2 as thick as mine holding at 2.2* C (36* F)!

Gives me hope that I'm on the right track here.
