    Movie theater wouldn’t accept cash

I don’t Spend much time here in PACE, but I took my wife and 2 year old to see the latest Disney movie (Encanto).

They WOULDNT TAKE CASH for our tickets, got inside and they wouldn’t take cash for the popcorn!?!

Is this legal?? Your telling me my hard earned money isn’t worth anything unless it come off a card?! I was a little appalled!

“This note is legal tender for all debts public and private” Bills are still printed with that phrase but I don’t know if businesses are required to take them. I still carry some cash at all times but I’d be willing to bet few younger people - especially under the age of 30 ever do unless they are so poor they don’t have a bank account. My sons are 28 and 32 and I don’t think either carry cash. Point is it probably doesn’t hurt a business like that to go card only. It would annoy me too though

Most millenials and younger don't carry cash or have actual checks for their checking accounts. Debit card, credit card, and Venmo only, pretty much. And they don't keep a check register to track their balance in their checking account either. They just look at the bank app on their phone. Since they don't write checks that could be still be held somewhere not cashed yet, it works OK.

I like to carry cash and pay for most things in cash, but I can see the benefits of a business going cashless. But, I don't like it.

And take a pic of a paper check, do online transfer, then throw the paper check in the trash. I'm not real sure if my youngest has ever been in a bank other than when he was little and went with me.

I don't carry cash. On-line banking for almost everything. Pay my employee with pay pal...

Hopdodies burgers did me this way the other day. Had to figure out venmo real quick as I didn't have my cc at the time.

I wouldn't think of leaveing the house without a grand or two or three. Sometimes good deals require cash. Especially when gun shopping.

Only problem I see is 70% of the population doesn’t know how to
Count back change , or break a $100 bill , or count backwards!
Heck I bet lots of 40 and under people have no clue of what I speak of !

Same. I’ve gotten many a good deal because I had cash on me. I remember my grandad, who grew up during the depression, saying that a man’s true net worth was what he had in his pocket because someone could always take away the rest of it.

Its mainly to keep employees from stealing is my guess. And to dissuade robberies in some cases.

Is it legal? Who knows but no one is going to spend legal fees to find out I bet.
