I remember when I was issued my first key map years ago. That thing was incredible. I drove all over town as a repairman and it sure made things easier compared to a big paper map. Funny now all you have to do is listen to your phone or GPS tell you where to turn.

You can toss Maritime Nautical Charts up there in the mix as well. And using the "OG" charts, required navigational skills to plot course, time and direction. Add RHUMB LINE navigation, for transoceanic travel, continent to continent and various time zones on the High Sea, it's all electronic now. Mariners always lean on old school, as a backup, and a chart table with nautical charts, something to do to test skill against the computer, when standing a night watch on another slow boring steam.
It's solid you are teaching the future, some of the tools ignored today.

I think one of the next big events that is going to happen in this world is a Cyber attack on large scale. Possibly during some sort of large scale evacuation such as Hurricane or something of sorts. Immagine the chaos during a bug out like what happened with hurricane Rita today. Rita was in 2005, almost 20 years ago. We have grown so dependent on technology in the last 20 years. Even then the only thing that saved me was a paper map. I didn't get caught in the traffic jams because I found a was around them. Yes, I went 2 hours south west before heading north; but I got to my destination in 6 hours when others, going to the same place took 20+.
