Are the Joe Pickett books as hoakie as the series or are they good?
No they are decent. The series was almost unwatchable and they just releases season 2.
I like the John Rain series by Barry Eisler
The entire Survivalist series by A. American (aka Angry American)
I’ve listened to 2 of The Gray Man series, they are good.
No hunting all spy or survival for me
FYI- Audible has a sleep feature that allows you to set a time for 15, 30, 45 mins or 1 hour and it shuts off so you don’t lose a whole book if you fall asleep
I’m working my way through the Reacher books, about 18 so far, but right now I’m listening to 1984. After I finish that one I’ll start on Lies My Doctor Told Me.
Also good are One Second After, One Year After and The Final Day, Agenda 21 and Agenda 21: Into The Shadows.
Then of course there’s always Lone Star.
Man-Eaters of Tsavo by John Henry Patterson was a good one too.
I read this (really enjoyed it) right before heading up to Chicago to visit the Field Museum where they were on display. My first thought was that they were smaller than I thought they’d be. Of course, they were females but, even so, they were very unimpressive in their “unimposing-ness”.
If you’re ever in Chicago (and I’m speaking to the body politic here), don’t pass up the chance to visit the Field Museum of Natural Science. There is/was a section devoted to Conservation that I think most folks here would find interesting.

They were maneless males. That was also my first thoughts when I saw them, but those two wreaked havoc in tsavo.
I also enjoyed the Joe Pickett series by CJ Box. The TV show was awful.
But not a huge fan of audio books.
I like the Steve Rinella podcasts. I like the trivia contests.
Otherwise just listen to various SXM radio classic shows
Favorite is “yours truly, Johnny Dollar”, an insurance investigator from the ‘50’s.
Wife Bought me all of the Bob Bailey series.
My favorites are across different subject matters
