They said today the San Marcos is the lowest it’s been since 1957, which was the all time low. Should be a gnarly, bony run down to Gonzales and I hope we can make it in one piece. The Guadalupe is looking a little better than last year, and the bay wind forecast looks pretty bad. Should be another brutal one!

We’ll see y’all along the way. If you see us at Cummings, holler at us!

Where do people sleep during the race?
Is it on shifts in the canoe while another team member is paddling?

What about when you gotta use the restroom?
Find a spot to pull over and hope no one spots you?
Canoe nailed it, but it’s all up to you. This year we made our middle seat removable, allowing one of us to sleep while the other two paddle. We’re trying to keep the boat moving 99%+ of the time. We’ll see how it goes.

Last year we finished in 86 hours. Slept on the bank for about 6 of that.

Agree with this! Maybe this is one of those items I need to put on my bucket list.

El Niño year pending. Should make this race a lot more fun than it has been this year and last with the extremely low water. It’s a great adventure and like nothing else I’ve ever done. Great memories with my dad and brother when we finished last year. I’ll never forget it!

Good luck, praying for safe passage and some relief from the heat.

My sister and her partner finished 15th and 1st in their class overalll with a time of 54:40.
Marshall and crew finished in 73 hrs and 59 minutes, with a respectable 38th overall and 14th in class (which includes boats up to 6 persons).
Unfortunately (or maybe fortunately my sister didn't let me hang around too long) I wasn't able to get updates on his team throughout the race.

In an amazing turn of events, The Yonley Bros went through the last checkpoint around 1.5 hours behind the lead boat (6 man team). The bay was brutal and the Yonleys were able to make a good bay crossing and ended up winning the race with a time of 39:47, beating the 6 man team by about an 50 minutes.

Solo Femal paddler Salli O'Donnell had an awesome race and finished in 54:11, 13th overall and 1st in class, but not only first solo female, first time ever that first place solo was won by a lady.

Ian Rolls and daughter had an great race and finished in 54:20, 1st in class, as well as 1st parent/child and 14th overall.

There were alot of boats that were not able to make cut off times or the heat and low water also thinned out the pack.
