    I need a new UTV trailer…what features?

I’ve been using a single axle 6x16 trailer to haul my UTV , zero turn lawn mower etc. I need a new trailer. Im thinking this time I’ll get a tandem axle. I may have it built. I’d like to know what features on your UTV trailer that you really like .

    Dimensions
    Hitch
    Tailgate / ramp
    Lights
    Plate location
    Axles
    Tie down hooks

Any special features that you really find convenient, useful, functional, make life easier for you.

14’ with dove tail, 4’ ramp, anchoring points welded to the top of the pipe tubing, tandems with at least one brake, 2 foot side plate welded in front of the drivers side fender so you can step out of the S&S onto step with ease and I added anti slip tape to ours, fully retractable jack so it doesn’t drag and a bulldog hitch.

If we’re getting picky I’d mount a set of retractable ratchet straps to the front and rear of the trailer to make loading and unloading faster as well, one of the best additions I put on our trailers behind the step welded on the side.

Make sure it handles the weight of the UTV and all the corn you will ever carry.

I had this one built by Grey’s trailer in Searcy, AR. 12’ tandem with a short ramp. It’s lightweight and pulls nice. Mainly for work so didn’t need extra cargo space, plus I fold the back seat up and can haul three 120qt ice chests in the buggy if going to the lease.

Mainly wanted a maneuverable trailer with extra axle in case of a blow out going down the interstate

Enclosed winch so when the UTV, mower, or whatever your hauling breaks down, it can be winched up onto the trailer.

Enclosed box for straps, chains, and binders.

                Tie down points.

                Fold up jack.

Side steps for climbing in and out.

                Ramp gate.

Removable side to load a pallet of corn up front.

                Tandem 3500lb axles with brakes.

                Pipe top.

LED lighting with wires ran in conduit centrally grounded.

I would think where you live and store it at would have a bearing on the size.

As wide as you can get it. Heavy duty fenders. Spare hub.

Why do you need a dove tail for a UTV? For cars or something low to the ground I can understand, but not a UTV. I hate dovetails. They drag too many places I go.

I like my longer gate to load heavier things easier with a dolly (freezer, safe, etc). We designed ours to latch in the up position but can also fold it to lay flat inside the trailer to reduce drag when empty or with a light load. Just a thought. That expanded metal catches more air than you’d think.

You're on the right track. What UTV?

Get a drive on tire jack to carry with you. Basically a ramp that makes it simple to change a flat.

Welded in d rings for anchoring

Either a short fold down ramp, or a two piece ramp.

                              Winch up front

                              Cargo box on the tongue

                              Bulldog hitch

                              Fold away jack up front

                              Front removable side entrance.

                              Tandem 3500 axles

                              14’ x 70”
