    2023 Texas Rangers

Love Opening Day! Solid early come back yesterday after being down 5-0! DeGrom only lasted 3 innings giving up those 5 runs but the Bats came alive bottom of the 4th scoring 9 runs. Final 7-11, Rangers.

yes sir... i was looking for this thread yesterday and was surprised it wasnt running yet. great job by the bottom of the lineup yesterday, hoping for a competitive season.

on a side note, i kid i watched in high school at heath, canaan smith-njigba, got the start in RF and batted 5th for the pirates yesterday. his younger brother, wide receiver jaxon smith-njigba, will be a first round nfl draft pick soon, and was the best HS football player ive ever seen.

canaans senior year was nothing short barry bonds-esque...he would rarely see a strike, especially with runners on base, and when he did it seemed like it was either over or off the wall every time. he was intentionally walked 32 times in 24 games his senior year.

a few years ago my son was taking some pitching lessons with former forney jackrabbit/texas ranger and current detroit tiger mason englert, who was a year younger than canaan. he told us a story from his junior year, when canaan was a senior, where before the game his coach told all the pitchers, DO NOT THROW HIM A STRIKE WITH RUNNERS ON BASE, PERIOD.

mason started the game that night and in an AB against canaan, after he left the first pitch up and out, he said he got ****** off and told himself, "f it, i am gonna get one by him." he started laughing and said "he hit it about 400 feet to right center."

Went to 2 games last season after an almost 30 year absence. Already making plans for this season. Prefer the day games. Excited with their new pitching lineup. The last game we went to last year was at the end of the season and they lost. I swear that some of the players (catcher) acted like they didn`t care if they won or lost. Pathetic.

Looks like we have a competitive team on the field. Bochy will make a difference. Lots of ball left, but yesterday was nice.

I turned the game on the radio in my office in time to hear de Grom's bad inning then heard the Rangers big rally on the way home. It's baseball season again and all is right with the world!

Not the debut that de Grom was looking for, but most of those hits against him were seeing-eye cue shots. I walked into my shop after work and they were down 5-0, I was in there less than 30 minutes and when I left it was 9-5.

Tuned out when we went down 5 but glad I check back in later in the game. What'd we pay for DeGrom? Better earn his keep!

I find it a lot easier to be happy about the good parts of what he had yesterday, than to worry about the bad… Maybe that’s blind optimism, but I’m choosing not to worry.

Did Philly score some of those runs after the error that they didn’t give Nate Lowe at first?

Amazing Family - Met JSN a couple times, went to a couple of his games after he was leaning towards tOSU. Only heard about the greatness of his Brother on the diamond. Love what they are doing for the community out there!

Fun to have a season open with some promise. Been a tough few years.

Pretty tidy little sweep. I'm so glad to see them start well to get confidence building with all the youngish guys. Perez looked pretty salty yesterday too.

It sure is good to be baseball season.

Real nice start to the season. The organization is heading in the right direction. It started with CY in and JD out. Luring Boche to town, and bringing Maddox back is huge. Ownership is ready to spend. The rotation looks great on paper. Here’s hoping for minimizing days on the DL for that group. The every day line-up is pretty top heavy, talent-wise. If the catchers, Jung, left and center fielders can chip in offensively, it will be interesting. Captain obvious stuff here, of course. Just tapping out this morning’s Rangers thoughts.

Ditto to the above sentiments. I always have optimism this time of year, the difference is the last few seasons my optimism has been that of an irrational, diehard fan. For the first time in a good while my optimism is justified and not delusional.

Not to jinx, but last time the rangers started 3-0, they made it to the WS

And the doubles and triples down the line to right were thanks to Grossman playing way to far over toward center and leaving the line wide open. Once they moved him to left, those extra base hits to right stopped.
