    Help: gun safe won’t open

I’ve had this Winchester gun safe from Costco for about 10 to 15 years and really have had no issues until recently. The electronic lock is not allowing me in when I enter my code.
When the battery is attached and a button pushed a long beep is emitted immediately.

I’ve done the recommendations of using a new battery, and also pushing the zero button to drain the battery and reattaching the battery then waiting five seconds, and re-entering the code but get the same long beep.
I haven’t had the chance to call Winchester yet but plan to .

Watching this one as I have an older winchester safe. A buddy's liberty safe wouldn't let him in. While searching for info, some of em even mentioned a certain brand of battery! Seems crazy...and didn't work on his. Ended up having to get it drilled. Liberty sent the peeps out as it was still under warranty.

Might double check for a key to over ride the electronics. Dont know what brand my son bought but it has a key and electronic. I think it's a Winchester from tractor supply

Call a safe repair and cleaning company they can get it open no problem.

Try a third battery if you havent already. I was in a similar situation a few years back. The battery that had been in there for god knows how long still had enough energy to beep but to not do anything else. I went to our battery drawer that was god knows how old and it did the same thing. I thought I was really in bad shape at that point in time. Later that day I was at HEB and in the checout line I saw a 9v battery and as a last shot of desperation I went ahead and bought a new one so I could for sure say that isnt the issue. Plugged it in and it unlocked.

Piug new battery in. Try combo. The let it sit about 15 or so minutes. Each time my battery has needed changing I have had to do this. Hope it works for you. Good luck.

Man what a nightmare. Hope you get it resolved. Keep us informed on the fix in case we have the same issue down the road.

I had this happen once and didn't have access to my firearms for about 4 months. Locksmith can drill it but it is expensive!

Look on the bright side, every grown *** man needs a blow torch. Now you have a reason to buy one.

Had the same issue different safe. Called the factory and they sent a new locking mechanism and a key pad. Put it in my self works fantastic. No cost to me.

If you bought this safe new, you should have a key hidden somewhere.

When you do get it open I would get a pad that also used a key!

I had this happen to me as well. Called Winchester and they gave me a code to unlock my safe. Once open, I order a S&G mechanical safe lock and installed it myself. Not hard. No more batteries or buttons that go bad.
