We’ll unpack what’s necessary for the morning hunt. Planning on getting a short hunt in tomorrow morning. Hanging a few new sets and putting a couple more cameras out. It’s gonna warm up quick so we’ll probably sit till 9:00.

First hunt in Illinois has officially kicked off.

Kade and I are running on about 3 hrs of sleep but we are in a stand hunting Mid-West Whitetails!

It’s 54 deg with a straight 9 MPH South wind.

I’m set up in a 2 man ladder stand on the edge of a cut corn field. I’ve got bedding to my South and CRP to my SW.

Kade is sitting in a lock-on at the edge of a cut bean field about 1/2 mile from me.

I had a young 8 point come thru at 15 yards this morning before shooting light.

Kade has had 3 does and a small buck at 20 yards.

We weren’t expecting a whole lot this morning with these temps but we both have already had deer in bow range the first hour of the first hunt. We’ll take that any day.

Gonna put a few hrs in the stand this morning and then hit the ground running. We have 5 different properties we can hunt this week and 2 of them don’t have any stands on them. With this front coming in tomorrow we are going to hang some NW wind sets. Put some cameras out, grab groceries and be back in a stand around 3:00.

Talen lands in Indianapolis tonight @ 10:00 so we’ll have another late night but we’ll be in a stand from daylight till dark tomorrow.
