Ever been stuck by a Catfish?

Was getting a channel catfish off the hook and the *&^%$ got me bewtween the index and middle finger. Wasn't that bad until that afternoon. My hand swole up and got real sore. Today the swelling has went down and can use my hand again. Was wondering if you have been stuck and your remedy for easing the pain?

slime off the belly of the catfish. Meat tenderizer works as well.

put chewing tobacco on it next time and it helps with the pain...

No remedy that I know of but have been stuck about 50 times!!! How bout some alcohol.

It could be worse...... We were noodling under a log in a creek one time and I felt a fish so I started to get him and when I did it was a MUDCAT and he was a big one and mead as heck!! They really hurt when they fin you!

Yep that sucks bad! X's 2 with the junkie though the slime helps. Don't do that with (i forget which one) hard heads or gaftops story is it'll make you see pink flowers and fantasia stuff...

Right on both accounts. Chewing tobacco (or if you have a cigarette moisten it up some) will work on bee stings instantly. Guess what works on Bull Nettle? May not be the best for you but a gasoline wipe down of the area. All of this works. Hope this helps.

I was at a friends house on Lake McQueeny and his daughter was messing around by the boat dock and dropped a toy in...no problem...water was only 4 or 5 feet deep..I jumped in and was feeling around on the bottom and put my palm right down on a dead catfishes dorsal spine...came up and it was still stuck in my hand...uh oh.

Went ahead and found her toy and then went inside and scrubbed and scrubbed with soap, bleach, anything I could think of.

next morning I was back at work and it was sore and a little red, but suddenly started to "bloom". I jumped up and headed for the hospital...the bloom was half way to my elbow by the time I got there...

That's the fastest I have EVER been through an emergency room...I didn't even fill any forms out. They took one look and shot me to the back and the admitting nurse grabbed a doctor off another patient.

Massive anti-biotics probably saved my arm and maybe my life.

X 2 especially on hard head fins. I thought it was a joke until I was offshore one day and a good friend told me (crossed his heart hoped to die) that if you peed on a hardhead wound it would ease the pain. Don't know about freshwater cats?
