It's that time of the year again...lease searches have begun. We've been without a lease for four seasons now. For over 75+ years our family has hunted in the hill country. Family members hunted on a couple different ranches for over 35 years and 40+ on another. We still hunt on some family land and participate in the TPWD and TYHP draw hunts. These hunts are very enjoyable, but y'all know the old saying," not having a place to go just isn't the same."
We've tried many different approaches: ads in local newspapers, feed store bulletin boards, social media, calling friends and landowners that we've made over the years. Haven't had any luck. Going to try something different on here.
I've been in sales for years and have had conversations with customers and clients about hunting leases, both private and company. I used to call it "tag and release hunting." What I mean by that is, that in our conversations things would usually come full circle that most of the members were mainly interested in killing trophy bucks and not so much concerned with the overall management program the property and deer herds they were hunting.
I'd mention to them that I would be interested in assisting them with their management needs and requirements. I wasn't asking to do any of this for free. I was willing to pay a fair price and/or barter, trade or whatever I needed to do to gain access to some hunting property. Thus far, no such luck.
So, that being said my family and I are looking for a lease. We're paying hunters. As I mentioned before, we're familiar with the hill country, but open to options.
So, if any of y'all have a need to harvest off excess does and/or management deer please consider us. We're open to putting in work; whether it be filling feeders, planting food plots, trimming brush, working around camp, etc. We've got tools, skills and equipment and would be glad to help out any way we can.
Appreciate y'all taking the time to read this. If y'all have any openings or know of any leads I'd appreciate that, too.
