First time elk hunt was a blast...never minding no elk kill and mass ohv's having chased elk off mountain to private property. 2nd rifle season in Unit 24 on Burro Mountain in White River National Forest in CO. Saw 150+\- elk herd on hoof. Killed blue grouse. Hunting partner and I accidentally pushed a couple 4x4 bulls into kill range of Missouri hunters camped up hill. Saw bull moose and 2 cows at 50 yards opening day. Found 40" bull moose antler shed. Tracked a wounded mule deer buck during midnight on mountain. Found out goretex isnt always water proof and is susceptible to wild rose thorn perforation.

Locals dont start hunting 2nd season until end of week when day hunters and outoftowners come off mountain.

    Meat in the cooler...Awesome!

Thank you. First elk/mountain camp was an awesome experience. Heated tents...awesome! I still slept outside in the cold....to stay adjusted. It was "drier than popcorn fart" first part of week and fire danger was high...then it rained...then snowed. It was cool to see deer tracks shadowed by cat and coyote tracks. We also found mauled sheep remains from predator predating livestock...surprised the predator carried the sheep halfway up the mountain.

Monday I had some bad skin removed on my back/shoulder and have 9 stitches on the bow side. I plan on being on stand Saturday night after the rain and if the right target comes in, I'll see if I can draw my bow.

Everyone count your blessings, hug the ones you love, and make it a great day.

Hope it heals quickly, Gary! Don't bust the stitches on a cull!

There is change coming to my world. My company (Louisville Slugger) was purchased by Wilson Sporting Goods in February. Even though I was told early on in the process, my job was safe I have had many sleepless nights. I finally received my new sales territory and the final go forward plan yesterday. I will be selling all brands for Wilson (Wilson, Louisville Slugger, DeMarini, ATEC) and my sales territory will be West Texas / West DFW / Central Texas. My old territory was 1/2 of Texas and Oklahoma, so I am happy to have a smaller territory.

I am excited about selling the entire Wilson line that includes footballs, basketball, uniforms, etc. It's a new chapter in my career.

Heal quick Gary, and drill one today.

Congrats on the great job news Heath, you can sell more now.

Well, the rain has stopped and I am sitting outside Penney's at the mall in Humble listening to Aggie football while waiting on my wife to get her exchange done. Sam's is next then who knows where. I plan to make Baskin Robbins my last stop on the way home.

Campfire feels nice tonight. Treating the kiddos as they come thru the neighborhood.

Stinking time change, woke up at my regular time and it's only 4:55am.

Look's like I have an hour to do some TBH looking.

I've been chasing a blackbuck for way too long. He has been dancing all around me all weekend.
Send me some luck that I get his this morning before I lose my mind!!!
