    Sub $3000 lawn mower

What do y'all recommend? I have about 1/2 acre yard to mow. Right now I have a craftsman 42" tractor and I hate it. I have lost count of how many mandrills went out, The steering plate between the tie rods is stripped, the pulleys keep stripping, and now the deck is rotted out. I'm wanting something that will be a 20 year lawn mower.

You must have a hellish 1/2 acre. I have a craftsman 42" tractor going on 8 years, with no issues.

Better buy a tractor. That kinda stuff isn't made to last that long anymore.

I have a Husqvarna that has held up well. Paid around $1600 for it. Eight years and have on replaced the blades.

Look at the Hustler models as well. I got one used on here and it's been awesome. When it finally gives out I will definitely buy another one.

I bought a 42" cub cadet zero turn for under $3k. So far no problems at all. Also I have 1 acre for a yard and half of that is kinda rough.

Look into Bad Boy, I think they have models designed for residential use. I have one of their big commercial mowers and have been very happy.

Gravely ZTR 50" can be had under $3k. I have one fore 8 years of abuse, just normal mantaince and a few sets of blades and belts. And I mow nearly 4 acres

I'll second the gravely zero turns. New you can get an HD model for a bit more than $3k but they have a good warranty and are stout machines. You can find a used one in your range for sure. The HD models are all fully serviceable which is nice compared to the cheaper mowers were you just replace the whole transmissions.

I just put this one up for sale. It's at the top of your budget, but it's like brand new.
