20" Chainsaw - Echo or Stihl Recomendation

Anyone have any experience with the echo 501p, 620p or 590? Always used stihl, but they are totally different machines now than the 032 I had. Also, heard concerns about all the changes they keep making? The saw will be used quite a bit each year with fallen trees if that maters.

I tried the search but most have been on smaller saws. Sticking with these brands because that is what the dealers around me handles.

Oops that is not how you spell recommendation.

I have the newer pruner Stihl chainsaw and it runs great. although you can't go wrong with either Stihl or Echo.

Stihl would be my only consideration for a saw

I own 7 chainsaws, 1 small Echo and 6 Stihl's. The Echo has never failed to start, it stays in the truck tool box. My Stihl's are used hard and when it comes time to work on one, I would rather work on a Stihl than a Echo. Either saw will do what you need to do. I would buy a pro saw since you said you would be using the saw a lot.

A professional series of either one if it will get heavy use.

Still MS391 is a great 20" saw. I have countless hours on mine, run junk gas in it and it always starts. It will wear you out before you wear it out.

I've got an 18" Echo and my other two are Stihl. The Echo starts on the second pull and has done that since I've owned it. It's probably 7-8 years old. It's my go to saw. The Stihl is good too but I prefer the Echo. Even sold my Stihl weedeater to buy an Echo weedeater.

I own a tree service and use a chainsaw daily. My go-to saw for ground work is a Stihl MS 261C Pro with a 18" bar. It'll run a 20" just fine and has even run a 30" when I had a breakdown on my 460 while taking down what was left of a 48" Water Oak. If you're going to use it often, buy a Pro saw, period. Don't buy the junk from Home Depot, Lowes, etc... go to a Stihl dealer or an Echo dealer that sells their higher end saws. Use Marine Stabil if mixing your own 2-cycle (I know kw the oil mix says it has fuel stabilizer already). Keep a clean air and fuel filter handy too.

I bought a Stihl MS311 with 20 inch bar to replace my 032 and I like it so far cut a new road on our place in Missouri back in a January probably 5 cord of oak and hickory in a weekend no issues.

I have an echo cs 560 and it fires up and cuts all I've ever put it on, had it 11 years or so

I think the smaller Echo is the best and for larger the Stihl, cannot go wrong with either, both very good .
