    Camouflage OSB from Lowe's

I am debating on building a Deerstand out of the camouflage OSB board from Lowes or the smart side board from Lowe's. I will have all seams taped and flashed

Probably cheaper to buy plain wood and spray paint

The deer will still see it.

Not really familiar with this Smart Siding, but if it is like most of the cement fiber boards, then any movement could cause the screws/nails to crack at the point of attachment to studs. Definitely would be nice for a blind, but not to be moved once built. I think there would be some sever problems. I know that cement fiber board was that way and I think this is something like that, but lighter according to the description of the product.

          It's not cement board. The
Camo is osb but painted in a real tree camo

The smart side is a tongue and groove type overlap type of osb

That camo osb might as well be regular osb with a cheap sticker on it. It won't last any longer than painted osb, which won't last very long.

Smart side is a great engineered product.

OSB is OSB. Not suitable for long term use as a deer blind.

                OSB and water don't mix.

Well that's the reason we have this forum

It sure was pretty but not for me

I am starting to take exception to all this OSB bashing...... I have been working for an OSB mill for 30 years. It will last for several years as long as you paint the crap out of it, especially the edges. The camo board is just a paper overlay that is glued to the surface. The Norbord OSB mill in Jefferson used to make it back when it was an International Paper mill.

OSB might get you a couple years outdoors. I wouldn't use it.

I've got a blind built out of OSB that I set in 1996, it's still standing, and keeping water out.

Keep paint on it, and a good roof, it'll last just fine.

Never used the camo board before, so no experience with it. I tried to buy some, but no store in DFW carried it when I asked around.

I just finished years 7 and 8 for my two box blind builds using regular (non treated) sheathing plywood and semi-gloss exterior paint from the oooops counter. I have repainted the outside each once 3 years ago and probably will do it again in the 2018 summer. I'd rather pay a little more for it now and have it last than rebuild or resheet an OSB build in a couple of years.

We built two for my lease buddy Nick in 2009 and his are still going strong as well.

It's alright if you nail to specs and use a laminate coating on the edges. I tested a lot of that product in comparison with our sheathing for wall strength testing. I always went with out of spec/thin cull stucco siding for my builds bc it was free.
