Well, I have been after this deer for only two years, but we have a pretty good history together. He showed up on camera in late October 2014 and was not very camera shy. We had daylight pictures at least twice a week most of our set ups. My wife, kids and I hunt our own property and have several stand locations. My son and I have been bow only for several years..... 15 years for me. No matter where we hunted this buck always seemed to be one step ahead of us. When season ended last year we decided it was best that he lived, it would give us something to really look forward to over the summer. When season rolled around this year we were ready. Had our cameras out in August and started waiting on "him" to show up. Finally in late October I got a picture of him and it was in daylight. Since it was at one of my wife's sets, I had to do A LOT of sweet talking and a little stand replacement but I got ready for him. On November 11th the wind was perfect and I was there. I rattled for a few minutes at 7:00am as soon as I hung the antlers up I could hear him coming like a train. I stood up and got ready and drew as soon as I saw it was HIM. He stopped at 15 yards behind a wall of thick brush. I could see his shoulder perfectly (so I thought). I settled in tight behind the shoulder and released. I heard the arrow hit but I could track the arrow in the low light. He ran maybe 15 yards and started walking. After waiting an hour I got down and found the arrow. NOT GOOD. Very little blood on the fletch. I waited a couple more hours then my wife and Jack Russell took up the trail. We found an awesome blood trail that lasted about 250 yards, then nothing. The dog couldn't pick up any sign in any direction. I was sick. A week later he showed back up on camera and it appeared I hit him very low under the vitals. I've hunted this deer exclusively since that day. I have hunted really hard this year with very little action. If fact, Monday afternoon I decided to not even walk to the stand. I decided to just take my rifle and lawn chair and set up on a fence line to see if a pig would walk out. Right at dark "he" walked out at 100 yards and I wasted no time ending the two year chase. He broke his G-3 off after I shot him in November. He scored 131" missing his G-3. We are guessing 141" had he not lost the tine. The arrow had hit him just below the vitals. The entrance and exits were only 4 inches apart.
