Found a similar sized fossilized snail at my old lease near Bulverde. Cool find.

          Ammonite, very much weathered.

Earth once hosted more than 10,000 species of these ancient marine predators. Find out how they lived, when they vanished, and how much we know about them today.

Bluesman nailed it. They can range from very small to well over 18" across. We used to find them up around lake Texoma. Average size there was about 12" across. I put 3 of them in my stone work when we built our house.

def a fossil snail or nautilus. Nice find. It's cool to think the hill country was an ocean floor at one point. Geology rocks!

Here's an ammonite fossil we just found a couple weeks ago. We're in south central Oklahoma, just north of Texoma. Pretty cool stuff!

Actually after review it does have a strong resemblance to a nautilus..
