    "Call It"...."Nothing But Net"

    Your turn, Dude Perfect

Wow. How fast do you think that ball was traveling when it hit that net ??

Way back in the early 80's when I was playing football at TCU. For entertainment a few of us including our punter would go to the old stadium. At that time TCU had the highest press box in the Nation. The upper deck went straight up. The punter would take his bag of balls to the upper deck and punt the balls out of the entrance ways leading to the bleachers. He would have to kick them about 40 yards out just to reach the field. We would be down on the field trying to catch those incoming bullets. Those balls were hummin when the got down there. That basketball might have broken the rim if it hit it!

9.8 meters per second minus a bit for friction caused by the air

You missed a critical squared there. Gravity is an acceleration, not velocity.

Until it becomes a drag, man.

Does it still only count as 3 points?

                      Drag coefficient.

Are we just listing things that are related to the math?

and where you may have gone wrong...

I would imagine that the ball found it's terminal velocity on the way down so technically the rate of travel of the ball would be expressed in terms of velocity not acceleration. Again assuming it reached terminal velocity.

Just giving you a hard time.

A rate of movement is always velocity, distance / time. No matter how fast the ball is going, terminal or not, gravity is an acceleration.
