It’ll say it on the bottle. The one I posted about says WB Liquors (stores next to Costco in Tx), it’s always identified by the store so it’ll say store pick or private selection for... total wine, poison girl, whoever your local vendor is that does them

Apparently, there were a few bad batches of Eagle Rare that went into normal circulation. I’ve heard they’ve corrected the issue and the new stuff should be good again. However, if you had it first like 8 years or more ago, then, it’s going to be hard to find another non-store
Pick bottle that will taste as good.

I’m in a few whiskey groups and have been able to get some from across the country. Specs and Goody Goody get them along with a few other bigger liquor stores, but whiskey guys find out about the drops and wait in line for hours and sell them out fast. Sadly, the bourbon scene is a little ridiculous these days.

That McKenna 10 is a great pour.

Anyone heard of altitude effecting bourbon taste?

My son packed a couple of his good bourbons in his checked luggage and made a trip to Estes Park and he swears the bourbon tastes different now

                  Brent,

I don't know the answer to your question..... but I recall a time about 20 years ago that me and Marlin Mears on here went up to help an outfitter buddy of ours up in NW Colorado with a group of hunters from SC. We rode snow machines into a cabin at about 10K sometime around midnight in a blizzard to pack his hunters off the mountain. It was kind of an emergency situation. I remember finding some cheap vodka and Tang in the cabin. The fact that us flatlanders survived the trip up on anything besides horses or dirt bikes seemed cause for celebration to my twenty something year old mind. I remember it tasted GREAT and thinking them astronauts were a whole lot smarter than them marshmallow suits made them look. But I swear I'm still getting over that hangover 20 years later! And our Whiskey at the shop tastes different by the day/mood. We'll all love something one week, and it will rate mediocre the next......by a whole panel of judges! I'm convinced that whiskey tastes as good as the company you're with or the mood you're in. Which reminds me........ya'll need to come to another shoot to put my theory to the test

Yes. Higher altitudes tend to have less humidity, which can dry your nose and palate. It will change the tastes of food and drink.

When I got the mountains, I have to drink about 50% more water or I get dehydrated pretty fast.

Picked up a bottle of EH Taylor BIB and 1792 full proof over the weekend. If my boss wasn’t a native Kentuckian, I think I could single handedly blame this thread for sparking my new interest in bourbon.

                                Review on Dalmore cigar malt?

I’m always looking for a good pour when smoking a cigar
