I enjoy Blanton’s and most populars of the moment, but I am not going to fallow the delivery truck around trying to buy a bottle. I am on the Wild Turkey right now.
Fun bourbon story. Gil Hibben the knifemaker, who made some of the Rambo knives, is a bourbon guy. He lives in Louisville, KY, and for the last 20 years has had a monthly bourbon and cigar club at his house. One time they got together and paid $7000 for a full barrel of Four Roses, 250+ bottles' worth.
I went into the Knifemakers' Guild in 2013 while Gil was president, and have maintained dialogue with his wife, Linda. Mrs. Hibben worked their connections in the bourbon industry. I've got a barrel label and some barrel wood coming to be used in a future knife project. It'll be a surprise to me what kind I end up with, but she promised a good story. Y'all may remember I had to use whiskey barrel rings and wood on Forged in Fire.
Been waiting for this one to hit the shelves, picked up a bottle today at a local shop in north Austin. Imma gonna get me 3 more when the next check clears.
Picked up a bottle on Tues evening. It's a really good pour.
Traveled up to New York this week and the bourbon thing hasn't quite caught on yet. Was able to grab a bottle of Eagles Rare, but no Weller 12.
For you SA guys, Dickel in on the shelves at Specs. I picked up a bottle of the 13 yr bonded off 281. Supposed to be the No1 voted Whiskey in the world.
