Almost picked up a bottle of this at Spec's. Interested to hear your take on the cask strength reserve. Ive only had the regular Belle Meade and the single barrel.

Almost picked up a bottle of this at Spec's. Interested to hear your take on the cask strength reserve. Ive only had the regular Belle Meade and the single barrel.

As you can see that a couple ounces are missing from the neck, I had a drink last night. I enjoyed it. Now, I'm no bourbon snob, I couldn't tell you what kind of floral scents it has, or how it finished on my palate lol. All I can say is, I like it.

One thing that is a killer for me is any hint of smoky or peaty flavor. I think that's prob why I don't like scotch. This drink had none of that.

Found this in Baton Rouge at a casino. Didn’t know it was still out there. Spicy, vibrant and big finish.

Opened this bottle I bought a few weeks ago. This might be the most unusual tasting whiskey I have ever had. I can’t pinpoint the flavor, but it is unusual.

NDN98; I've had a couple of different HW that I didn't like. Thant said, the Midwinter's Night Dram is one of my mostest Favorite.

Unusual good, or unusual bad?? I've been wanting to grab a bottle, but at that price point, 'unusual' doesn't make me want to rush out and grab one...

It wasn't "bad" per se, but it certainly wasn't in my wheelhouse. It is sweet and has a floral taste to it, but their is something else there that I can't identify. I will revisit it later, but right now I would say I am leaning towards not getting another bottle once it is gone. That said, I am mainly a bourbon and Scotch guy and just exploring rye in the last year or so. It certainly doesn't taste like most of the other ryes I have tried and it might be the fact that part of the blend is finished in Vermouth casks.
