    Recipe funny

I saw the other post about recipes and had to share. My buddy's wife was complaining about his whitetail being tough. So, she called me up asked what did.(Roasts) I told her when it is an older deer, I will season it and soak it in the left over coffee from the from the morning. And then cook it when I get home.

The next night he calls me and says guess what I doing? I said eating delicious venison roast.? He said sorta......? But it is kind of crunchy! I said What!?...

She had soaked it in coffee grounds! Lol...

Soak it in coffee? Does it taste like coffee after it is cooked?

Interesting, I have never heard of soaking it in coffee. Maybe I can try Texas Pecan to get that pecan smoked taste...

Thought I had read somewhere that you could rub coffee grounds on and get a good end result?

Maybe she wasn't too far off base after all

One of my brisket rubs uses coffee. Very good flavor.

Doesn't to me. Good flavor and tenderizes the meat.

Never tried it on a roast but I did eat a steak that was seasoned with coffee grinds. I saw my buddy rub it on the steaks and thought he'd lost his mind. I have to say I was impressed. Had a different flavor but couldn't taste the coffee at all. They were cooked over open flame and I'm sure some cooked off, but it was great.

I still can't make myself try it on my own steaks though....

I wouldn't say it tasted like coffee, but it sure added a great flavor.
Good enough to do it again. Look it up on smoking-meat.com
