Well this past year me and my family were introduced to archery and I can tell you it's been an awesome ride! My son got a bow last Christmas and I got one on here from a fellow TBHer about a month earlier. Muddyfuzzy help me set mine and my son's rig up and in June Muddy and I headed NW to Diamond C and got my first bow kill and then followed with my 2nd and 3rd. Joined Buffalo Field Archery Club in Houston and put alot of shooting time in between June and bow season as my son did too. Bow season came and we had a blast, I had never been so close to animals before I had deer 5 yds away it was incredible to see deer that close. I shot my first whitetail (doe) Sunday morning of opening weekend and to me it was a great feeling. Two weeks later it was my son's turn, I set up a pop up blind about in a small opening with a free range feeder a few months before the season for this reason. We had no bucks on camera and we were expecting to get a doe and an 8 pt comes out at 8 yds and as my son drew back he got busted. Little disappointed he wanted to get in the stand early that evening so at 2:30 and 90 degrees we sat for an hour and started debating if we made the right decision because it was so hot but a few minutes later the 8 pt appeared and stepped onto the shooting lane at 15 yds. My son drew back and his hat got in his way so he let down I took his hat off and he drew back again and Thwack buck went down! He tried getting up but couldn't he put 2 more arrows in him and there we sat admiring what my son had just accomplished! The Buck was young but to my 10 yr old son it was a trophy he was beyond excited and had been shooting at least 2 to three times a week to prepare for this moment. And last weekend we got invited to a friends place in Edwards county and was told he hadn't seen a whitetail on his place in 2 yrs but he said we could shoot does or spikes if o e came out, we'll the 2nd morning a spike walked out and my son made a good shot the spike was nervous and didn't give him a lot of time even though it was with his .243. Lol. All in all it has been the best year of hunting I have experienced, I have gained a lot of knowledge and met some great people on here and can't wait to see what next year brings. I hope everyone has a Merry Christmas and God Bless.
