Gov shutdown, and public hunting access(NO POLITICS)

Keeping my own opinion to myself over the politics of the shutdown. Just curious what is the expectation for public hunting lands like SHNF... Found this tidbit earlier:

All areas of the National Park and National Wildlife Refuge Systems would be closed and public, access would be restricted. The Bureau of Land Management would terminate all non-emergency activities on the public lands.

Not sure But i am going to try to try to inquire in the morning... as far as Amistad is concerned I don't see how it would be closed as there are no gates and/or check stations but I am not sure...

I hope not, I am planning on a trip out there in December. Its a long drive form here only to not get to hunt.

Planning on going to DCNF this weekend. I don't know how they're gonna keep everyone out.

Same thing with the SHNF, no required checkpoints so I can't see it closing. Now the "H" might be a different story

Funny thing, I have a permit and am currently hunting on the Trinity River National Wildlife Refuge in Liberty county and have not received any emails telling me to cease and desist. Guess I need to run down to the parking lot and see if they have posted a sign.

They will use any tactic available to make it look really bad. I will continue to remember that the Senate and the President had an opportunity to "fund the government".

I was told by Rick Cantu at his seminar that H would close during a shutdown.

I would think if you've already paid and have your permit, how could they stop you from going?

There is a difference between a National Park and a National Forest
The park has employees and are maintained as in Yellowstone, the forest has no employees as in all the elk hunting forests in CO no park employees wandering around there

I just heard that if you're in a park you have two days to get out. Expect to hear park is closed, the moose out front should have told you.

So I checked on LBJ website, and didn't see anything about a shut down.

                          This is what I figured.

                            Saw this on Yahoo.

At some parks, where access is not controlled by gates or entrance stations, people can continue to drive, bike and hike. go hunt
