Rut is on in Leon Cty.

Hunted yesterday all day and we saw 3 bucks chasing does pretty hard, I think it's the end of tending and going into rut now. Saw 2 sixes adnd 3 eights all out of range and one shooter of the 5 deer. Windy as all get out and looks like Tuesday will be a great time to be in the woods with the weather/rut combo!! gonna try to swing it.

I'm not sure what's going on in Van Zandt Co. I saw bucks chasing in late Oct, nothing real heavy, but the does were always nervous and looking into the woods. Thought it was going to bust loose by gun opener. However, it slowed down, bucks seen cruising around alone, does bunched up and feeding calmly. Not sure if it's over or just beginning! Anyone else experiencing this, especially in this region?

I am experiencing the exact same thing in Crockett (Houston county). I've hunted extremely hard this year during bow season and gun. There is no way I missed the rut or unless we are talking about the weakest rut I've ever seen(or not seen). I think it's going to bust loose the next cold snap which is looking to be Tuesday/Wednesday.

It was last two weeks of October and wide open youth season. Opening weekend it seemed to be reealling winding down. All this weekend no rutting activity seem. Only corn heads doing what corn heads do.

We typically see them kicking in and chasing again thanksgiving week or the week before. The week after Christmas is the next best time to hunt especially if you missed one of our crazy ruts.
