    Colt Defender .45?

Anyone have any thoughts or feed back on the gun. Looking to get a 1911 for my dad's birthday. He is looking to upgrade from a .38 to something with a little more bang. Any other ideas in 1911 and in a c.c. Size would be great. Thanks

My EDC is a Citadel compact 1911 in .45. 3.25" barrell with a list price in the 5 to 600 range. may not be the best out there, but it is what I can speak to as it is the one I have used. never had a FTF yet.

I have a 45 defender and a Sti escort. Both are great guns. If the defender is not held firmly it won't cycle. It's not made for weak wrist!

I had the defender and got rid of it. That thing is loud to shoot (even with protection on) and caused night blindness. I like the gun but was just unpleasant to shoot.

If you're looking for a budget 1911, check out the Taurus 1911s. From what I've heard they're not bad for the money.

I have a friend with one. He likes it. I carry a Springfield ultra compact in .45 that I like.

Where on the north side of Houston can I go and look at a STI?

I ve owned Kimber,Colt and several Springfields. Ive shot STI,Wilson and ED Brown...It really comes down to price(which modle of each brand ,is it "de horned" what type of sights) and useage(home defense or CHL? If the latter dont skimp on the Holster).

Might have him check out a new Colt lightweight commander. Fullsize alloy frame with a slightly shorter barrel/slide. I love mine, carry it regularly, and have had no issues. When you start moving smaller than the "commander" length in 1911's, funky stuff is more likely to pop up.

Wish I would have bought it when you got rid of it
