Good luck op on your new career search. Keep your head up and try to keep it positive attitude as best you can given your present circumstances. It will work out eventually and that dang applying online sucks from what little dealings I have had with it imo.

It’s great to see tbh giving you the positive feedback that I have read so far.

Are you using a one size fits all resume for your applications? If you find an opportunity that you think would be a good fit but you’re worried you’re going to come off as overqualified you may need to dumb it down a little. Pull back on the elaborate work history and maybe even keep it a little simpler during the interview. They don’t always need to know everything you know, play it closer to the vest until you get the job. And unfortunately, we don’t always find a career that we love. Bills and family come first, so make sure you aren’t trying to make a unicorn out of your next gig.

Thanks a lot, I really appreciate the encouragement.

You’re right, the online application grind is brutal. Feels like shouting into the void most days, and it wears on you quick. But hearing from folks on here, people who’ve been through it and came out the other side, really does help keep the fire lit.

Glad I posted. TBH has shown up in a big way, and I’m grateful for it.

          Lots of good advice.

Would like to know you job search approach?

My kiddo is struggling a bit and I've been coaching the best I can. In looking for ways to help her I found this lady's YouTube. She just did a 4 day job search strategy.

I still need to watch them, but give this a look - https://www.youtube.com/live/C99mnA-MpJI

If you feel its helpful, let me know. I'll get you the links to the rest of the seminar she did.

I'd stick with the home services sector. If you are financially able, and have the right contacts in your area, starting a business from scratch is one option, assuming you meet the licensing requirements for at least the HVAC or you'll have to hire/pay for someone's license. Obviously, this is a high risk/high reward play.

Option 2 is to find a decent sized HVAC company that is now PE owned like so many are and try to get hired on as a location or regional manager with the experience you have. Companies like Apex and the Wrench group own hundreds of small home services companies.

Please read Nick Corcodos book “Ask the Headhunter”. Twice. Then follow it. It’s a completely different wsy to view finding your next job. Sone people say they’d never hire somebody who didn’t follow the company’s ‘rules’. I got several good jobs doing exactly what Nick preached. He has a website as well.
