I haven't ever delt with a yamaha but I think they are similar to some others. Ok, for speed only, not offroading, mudding, or major hill climbing, I'm talking a road racing dude! in order of cheapest to most expensive, all prices approx to last year when I did mine: HD solenoid- $100, new heavy duty forward/reverse switch-$130,upgrade all cables to 4 or 2 gauge-$200, some of the newer carts have computers that can be programed- don't know $$, 500amp controller-$475, and a custom motor-$650ish. This set up and keep smaller tires on the cart, large tire reduce speed but thats another lesson. If you do these upgrades you will be looking at 40ish MPH!! If you do all that you had also better look at upgrading the brakes. My cart will do right at 30 MPH and some times it gets a little scary trying to stop! I have a smaller motor, and larger tires on mine thats why it only will get to 30Mph.

Best change for hunting cart is the controller and wires but this will maiy help with torque. Then a higher hp motor, a stock is say 2.5-3, to get faster you need an 8-11 hp speed/torque motor. You can sometimes buy a kit that has all the above for around $1200. Buggies gone wild is your best bet for info and gear. Just like tbh but for golf carts.
