No One Posted About the New Mountain Lion Regs Yet?

Texas Parks and Wildlife commissioners approved basic regulations for hunting and trapping mountain lions. The state banned canned hunts and established a rule to prevent live mountain lions from being left in traps.

All I gathered from the article is that they banned canned hunts and made it illegal to let your snares/traps go more than 3 days without checking them. Far as I’m concerned, that should be in place regardless of desired predator.

That's weird. It says in there that the state asked for public opinion on lion regs. Did anyone here get asked about it? I never did. Neither did anyone I know. Strange.

All it did was open the door for more regulations. Nobody was running penned lion hunts and I'd imagine most traps are getting checked that often anyway.

I would like to know where all these canned lion hunts in Texas are located. Maybe I can go on one before they start enforcing this law.

Imagine if that breeder buck was ‘hunted’ in the 10acre pen it has lived all its life l, a ‘canned hunt’.

My buddy runs lion hunts on their family property in New Mexico. Usually get 4 or 5 a year, and he says it really is his favorite game to eat. I was surprised but he definitely enjoys it.

Maybe outlawing canned deer hunts are next. Camels nose is under the tent. Expect more regulations to come. And eventually no shooting mountain lions.

And this is where it starts… ban “canned” hunts, next is putting in a season, then banning any and all take of lions. Yep no big deal
