I remember when the Rangers signed Beltre, I didn’t know a ton about him. I checked out the numbers, and what people said about him, and thought…”seems like a weird guy who can flat play! Ok..” I remember a lot of the talking heads were critical. I had no idea…

I’ve had this conversation with others, young and old, and no one can name a better 3rd baseman in the history of the game.

For an all-around third baseman, Mike Schmidt in his prime was probably as good. Certainly not better, but about as good. When you factor in personality, it’s Beltre’ in a walk.
