NE Texas buck

My oldest son got this buck this morning in Harrison County. He got it with his Marlin lever action in .375 Winchester that he bought because his old man has owned a Winchester in this caliber for years. I no longer hunt with mine, but he hunts with his anytime the range is medium to short. Mine has a 2X pistol scope on it, (being a Winchester), but his has a conventional scope on it which helps at longer range. The tailgate pic (made famous by our own Gar Guy)

375 win is a great east texas cartridge. I have a Marlin in 38-55 and handload it to 375 pressures. Killed a lot of deer and pigs with it.

375 win is a great east texas cartridge. I have a Marlin in 38-55 and handload it to 375 pressures. Killed a lot of deer and pigs with it.

I should put a better scope on mine and use it, but it would still have to be a handgun scope mounted in front of the receiver. Still, I killed a bunch of deer with it back in the day. A few hogs because we hardly had any hogs then.
