    The 12yo boy won Grand Champion with his broilers this year at the county show. Yes we eat them!







    Chicken plucker




    Scalding pot 150 deg with a shot of dawn soap to loosen the feathers

      Congrats to your son. How does the plucker work? I love duck, but hate plucking the boogers.

        It has a plate in the bottom that spins. The black things are rubber fingers that pull the feathers off. You have to scald the chicken in hot water to loosen the feathers and make them easy to pluck.

              Congrats to him! I won Grand Champion Pen of Poultry in Midland when I was in high school.. Never did any good with the pigs but those chickens sold for $700 bucks.

                  I hope it turns out better for you than it did for us. I have processed show chickens 2 times and neither time were they any good to eat. Dry and tougher than woodpecker lips

                            I showed Capons and Turkeys back in the day. I won 1 grand and 1 reserve with my capons and the same with my turkeys. The grand and reserves sold at the auction but all my other birds we did as you are. Turkeys were good but the Capons were like chewing rubber
