If you don’t have the ability to skull cap a bull there is no way your getting it out in 3 loads. If you can’t handle a 160+ pound load your not getting it out in 3 loads. Obviously meat will be deboned.

Here is how i packed my bull last year.
Load 1- one hind quarter, backstraps, tenderloin, all hunting gear and equipment.

Load 2- cape, skull capped antlers, front shoulder and half the neck meat.

Load 3- one hind quarter, one front shoulder, rest of neck meat.

That's straight beast mode right there.

Seriously though, that is insane. Bet the dogs were tired after those hauls.

Can't remember. Did you make 2 trips in one day and get last load the next. That's a lot of weight. Weren't you like 3-5 miles out.

Yes I killed my bull at 8am. Made a trip and had lunch. Went back in at 1 or so and camped out the face and skull capped him. I finished my second load right at dark. Woke up and packed up camp then headed in for my last load. My first load was definitely the heaviest. I had to sit on my butt to get the pack on my back. Just looked back at my onX and I was 4.57 miles from the carcass to camp.

This was my pack out on the second load. I’m not sure why it says first load. The time at 7:05 would be about the time i finished the second load. Either the time or the title is wrong. Lol

I sure hope I get to feel the pain of packing an elk out. I'll have some help and will likely be wihin a couple miles of a road so shouldn't be the worst packout ever. But I doubt any are very pleasant.
I've only shot one elk before and we had horses for that packout. No such luck this year

Yes sir. I made a meat tree that had a good breeze on it. Laid the meat out where it was all getting cooled off.

Called in a 5x5 yesterday to 40 yards broadside. Went to draw and my arrow shot off before I could fully draw. Confused and with the bull not moving a nocked another arrow. Same thing happened. My Dloop wore out at the worst time ever. Bull walked off and I’m in town getting it fixed now. Back into the mountains this afternoon.
