    Because .....

1.It's what they are use to..

2.It's the only way they know...

    3. Don't want to put forth the extra effort it takes...

    4. They just don't have the skills....

    5.They just don't care....
I wish you could have reminded me about this effort thing when I was hauling 1000 lbs 1/2 mile. That is not counting the extra hours I had to work to pay for the stuff.

I am not near as mad at them as I used to be, but I still hunt them because I like to kill stuff.

BTW, a corn feeder is just a smaller version of that corn field or other food plot. To each his own and I don't knock either method. I also will still use a rifle, but what skill does that take? Not much. I much prefer to make it challenging with a bow, since you have to play the wind, control movements, and other tactics due to the distance between you and your target.
Not exactly. A corn feeder is attracting a deer to specific spot, normally around 20 yards and basically holding the deer there for a more or less of a controlled shot. Rocky....I am using your terminology here.

A corn field, soybean field, or any kind of food plot definitely attracts deer but the deer have hundreds of options on where they enter and exit the area. Very seldom will you have a controlled type shot as you will be hunting a trail leading into or out of the area. You will most likely have to stop the deer and also the deer is probably on a different path than you expected him to be on.

I think I like doing things the hard way. I never hunt over feeders not that I'm against it for anyone else.

I just don't think "the" buck I want will

          A. be that stupid

          B. I don't want to remember shooting him with his head down on a pile of corn if he does come to it in the daylight.

I like trying to pattern an animal or get into his area and trick him if possible via, trails (although most of the big bucks I have seen seem to stay off the main runs in thicker brush.

This hunting is boring to most people that want the instant gratification of hearing the feeder go off and "here come the does!" I like it being totally quiet, oops was that a twig snapping or a leaf! Adrenaline pumping! Is it HIM?

I sell feeders but I use them away from my hunting area.

I understand the guys out west using them I guess and this part of hunting out there would be difficult for me.

I hate watching a hunting show with a huge feeder in the background and old mossy horn finally walks out and BOOM "he's down, he's down!" Not that there is anything wrong with it-for that hunter.

yeah, i don't have a problem with people hunting feeders or bait piles. it's good for kids and the wife cause it brings more animals in and it usually keeps them occupied and engaged by watching various critters come in and hit the corn pile. I don't really look at it as being lazy, as i do look at it like it's not really for me anymore. For the last few years i've just gone out when either the freezer is dang near empty or it's close to the end of the season and do my killing to fill the freezer and that's pretty much it. I think i need to take some more trips out of state and re-energize my batteries maybe.
