Closed areas- Bastrop State Park and Beuscher State Park.

CURRENT CONDITION OF BASTROP FIRE AREA- As residential areas are re-opened, returning residents will notice many areas with trees, stumps, and other vegetation smoldering or possibly still burning. The Bastrop County 911 system has received a large number of calls reporting smoldering or burning areas within the fire perimeter. In order to not overwhelm the 911 system, residents are encouraged to only call 911 to report fires adjacent to their homes. Please do not call 911 to report smoldering or burning material that is not threatening a residence. Fire crews are patrolling the fire areas to mop-up any lingering smoldering or burning materials.

A list of homes burned has been posted at the front of the Bastrop Convention Center. 875 homes have been GPS confirmed and verified with 911 addresses. As county assessment crews get into the burned areas they are verifying houses burned; no homes have burned since September 7.

ASSISTANCE: 1-800-621-FEMA (3362) or www.DisasterAssistance.gov or dial 211 for local information and statewide public services. A FEMA Disaster Recovery Center has been established at the Bastrop High School West Campus, 1602 Hill Street, Bastrop, TX. Hours of operation are Monday-Saturday 9:00 am-7:00 pm, Sunday 1:00 pm-5:00pm.

SAFETY MESSAGE-Residents are strongly encouraged to take safety precautions during re-entry due to possible dangers that may exist in the ashes around their property.
