I've got a question about Vortex Binoculars

I've decided to purchase some new 10x50 Vortex binos but I'm having a hard time choosing between the Vipers and the Razors. I want to know which pair are better in low light situations and is there a difference between last years XD models and this years HD models other than price. If theres anything else I need to know about the two let me know. Thanks

The Razors are better and will have better low light gathering than the vipers. As far as the XD and HD after calling the factory asking the same thing as you are now....the new HD Razors are night and day difference compared to last years XD glass. The difference between HD and XD glass is the glass itself and the coatings on it. If your considering the razors then you've accepted the price and size difference.

Thanks for the reply brushsniper. I have not looked through the HD binoculars they make yet. Just wondering if there is really a $700 difference between the 2 I'm looking at.

Anyone else have or tried the HD binos yet. Any feedback would be appreciated.

I don't see how there can be a $700 difference in any binoculars once you get over 2-300 $. Jmho. I've looked thru $1800 Swaro binos and $500 Leupold binos side by side and just don't get the price difference...

There's no difference in the store. But if you are looking through both at about 29 minutes after sundown, then you'll see the difference. Whether it's worth several hundred dollars to get good vision for 5 or 10 more minutes in the evening is something everybody has to decide for himself.

I did my "looking test" on these two binos in wide open country in the west tx desert. That said it was around noon and so broad daylight.

I had a pair of 10x50 Vultures that I could see better before light or after dark than I could with my own eyes. Sitting in a blind before sunrise I thought there was something about 35 yards in front of me, so I pulled up my binos and sure enough there was a nice buck. With bare eyes I couldn't even see a deer, but with the binos I could see the deer and antlers.

I now have 15x50 Vipers, 10x42 Razors, and a Nomad spotting scope.
