    Corn field question

I have noticed that guys are starting to bale/shread their corn fields that didn't make it this year. Some of the fields I have seen have a few strips left untouched. What's the deal? Are they leaving the strips for insurance reasons or something like that?

On second thought. Not sure what the purpose of leaving it standing would be. Everything I've seen has been mowed or harvested for personal use.

Makes a great place for the dove hunters to hide

Dove hunting purposes. Places for the hunters to hide. At least that's what we used to do with our fields.

In Grayson county all the cut corn fields that I saw were completely cut.

we do that to our fields. so when we have hunters come out there is some feed and cover

Saw the same thing on I-45 this week around Ennis. Wondered why also.

that is for insurance purpose. they leave the strips and then they will come and have to combine them.

Correct, for insurance purposes. If the ins. guy has been to busy to come by harvest time, the farmers will leave a few rows for the ins. guy to look at and judge yield vs. ins. income.
