Another "Look how tough deer are"....thread

I shot one high like that years ago. I thought that it was a good shot. While I was waiting my 30 minutes to go find my deer, he showed back up eating corn at 20yds. I kept looking at him trying to figure out if it was the same deer or not. Finally I decided that it was the same deer, so I nocked another arrow and put it through both lungs. This time the deer crashed within sight. Once I got to the deer and checked the first shot, I noticed that it did nothing but cut through the backstraps.

Pure muscle hit - think about it though - someone puts aclean 1 inch X thru one of your muscles (no arteries), and even without medical attention, you're not likely to die barring some odd complication - and we're pretty weak critters in comparison. They are tough, but wait till you find a broadhead sealed in scar tissue IN THE LUNG of an elk.
When we first started to allow bowhunters on our ranch, this was actually one thing that I actually used to convince my old man it was OK. I 100% believe that the survivability of a poor hit with an arrow is much much greater that a poor hit with a rifle.
