I had the same problem. Might as well go ahead and replace them. it's something weird with the voice coils.

Most of my steering wheel control lights are out. Are they difficult to change?

Nope. All you need is a thin screwdriver to pry them out. There is a wire connector with a little bit of slack to it. Pull that, replace with a new controller, put it back in. Literally a two minute job.

The lights didn't look to easy to change. If you could solder, then maybe you can try it.
