I returned to the cabin where the girls were already stir crazy and ready to
drive into town for some supplies. We headed to Carizzo Springs and spent
the middle part of the day there before getting back for a quick nap prior to
heading out for the evening hunt.
It was almost 4 pm before I was settled in the blind. A group of
javelina fed on the road in front of me.
I contemplated shooting one, but
decided against it. I took some video of them before finally getting bored
watching the little footballs. I don't hold quite the same grudge against
javelina as I do for their destructive hog brethren, so I opted not to shoot in
favor of just running them off. I didn't see much else until just
moments before dark when I had a couple of does and a small buck make their way
in. I didn't want to exit the blind and alert them to my position, so I
waited them out until they finally left the area.
