So there I was. . .
After leaving work at 4 pm, I arrived at
the gate of the Buck n' Boar ranch at around 9:30.
Traffic out of Houston was a nightmare, and I was
relieved to finally be here.
When I entered the lodge at Buck n'
Boar, Kavin, Daniel and Leo, along with Mack and Boyd
Hay, owners of Buck n' Boar outfitters, were waiting to
share the news of the evening hunt. Well,
everybody was eager to share except for Daniel. He
gave me a long glare that told me I had done something
wrong. Like maybe not being there holding
the camera while he was surrounded by does well within
bow range! Fortunately, or unfortunately if you
ask Daniel, his dad had instructed him not to shoot
until I arrived! Oh the pressure!
I'll let Daniel tell you, in his own
words, the details of Friday evenings action:
Leo dropped us off at the road to our
stand. I was {and still am} smiling from ear to ear. My
dad was telling me take your time, let the deer come to
you, so I said ok!!!! Nervously, I got in my 14 foot!!!
latter stand and waited. All of a sudden a HUGE! doe was
walking down road. My heart was pounding. I was about to
hyperventilate. Then three more came out, I'm like
"man, oh man, oh man, why couldn't Michael have
been here?" I also heard two hogs
fighting. Also, I saw a BIG buck. Oh, Whitney if your
reading this I wish you where here. I miss you so so so
so so much!!!!! E-mail me at hotmail. Bye.
Here's Michael!
OK. I'll learn from the kid.
Jeanette, I miss you so so so so much! tehehehe!
How sweet!
I presented Daniel with his Brush
Country clothing, compliments of Robert Rutledge at
Brush Country Camouflage.
He was like a kid at Christmas, hovering
around waiting for me to give it to him. I made
him wait until I could at least get the truck unloaded
and get the camera out for the video. Finally, I
set up the camera, introduced Daniel and Leo, and
presented Daniel with his Brush Country Camouflage
gear. Daniel will be the second best looking
person in the deer woods tomorrow!
It should be an exciting weekend. |
